BIPA REGULAR PROGRAM

The Regular BIPA Program is designed to help participants learn to communicate in Indonesian in various situations and contexts. The program is offered in six levels organized on the basis of Indonesian Qualification Framework (IQF). Sessions are organized twice a week, each lasting for two hours. The program is available three times a year: January – April, May – August, and September – December periods.

LEVEL COURSE LENGHT AND GENERAL OBJECTIVE

BIPA 1

50 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to understand and use contextual expressions to introduce oneself and fulfill daily routines and needs in a simple manner to communicate with a very cooperative interlocutor.

BIPA 2

50 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to express their feelings in a simple manner, describe the surrounding environment, and communicate their daily needs and routine

BIPA 3

50 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to express their experiences, hopes, goals, and plans briefly and in a coherent manner with reasons in the context of their daily life and work.

BIPA 4

50 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to report their observations of events and express their ideas about topics in their field, both abstact and concrete, fairly fluently without obstacles that interfere with their interlocutor’s understanding.

BIPA 5

60 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to understand long and complex texts and express viewpoint ideas in various topics spontaneously and fluently almost without any obstacles, except in profession and academic and academic specific fields.

BIPA 6

60 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to understand long and complex texts that contain implied meanings and express ideas in a clear, structured, systematic and detailed language, fluently and spontaneously, appropriate to speech situation for social and professional needs, except in complex academic field (scientific work).

BIPA 7

60 hours Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to understand information from nearly any field easily and express ideas spontaneously, fluently and accurately with the ability to discern shades of meanings and reconstruct arguments and data in a coherent presentation.

PRIVATE TUITION PROGRAM

BIPA Private Tuition Program is a one-to-one (one student, one teacher) tuition for students who want to have a more personalized instructional content and more flexible schedule and setting. Application for this program is open all-year-round.

COOPERATION PROGRAM

Cooperation Class of BIPA Program is based on cooperation between Balai Bahasa UPI and particular institutions, such as government, private enterprises and organization, or internal units in UPI, which is designed to meet specific objectives of the customers. Some programs successfully conducted are under cooperation with Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Indonesia (Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia) that involved awardees of Darmasiswa and KNB scholarships, with DaewooSKY from South Korea that was participated by participants of Global Young Business Manager (GYBM) program specifically oriented for professional and business purposes, and with AIA Victoria Australia that provided an opportunity to participants of bahasa Indonesia course in Australia who have interest to immerse themselves in Indonesian society in order to learn more about Indonesian language and culture.


March 7, 2018 Darul Hikam International Boarding School located in Lembang, held “Culture’s Day 2018” event and invited seventeen UPI International Students. Once the visitors from UPI arrived, the principals, teachers, and students of Darul Hikam greeted all the guests.

The talkshow had four international students to share their experiences of living in Indonesia; Dinara-Ukraine, Laura-French, Saprolla-Philippine, and Shusuke-Japan. The event not only held the talkshow agenda, but also art performances that thrills all the participants to celebrate the crowd.

Been living in Indonesia for several months, it is very natural for them to feel deep longing toward the country they are originally from. The speakers also share what you can and cannot do in each country.

“It would be impolite if you ask about age and physics,” mentioned Laura as she stated regarding social practices in her beloved country of French.

Discussing about experiences of living abroad, the thing called “cultural shock” is fortunately inevitable. Shusuke mentioned about how rare toilet paper in most toilets of Indonesia. Familiarizing and understanding themselves with Indonesian language are most of their purposes to live in this multiculturalism country.

During their exciting experiences living in Indonesia until today, the key speakers stated that we have to love our culture and bring them to the world as part of nationalism. “When you kiss your teacher’s hand, I like this country’s respect to teachers,” said Saprol of Philippine. Shusuke give his thought of Indonesians being tolerant community to foreigners. “You should proud of your country and bring them to the world,” Dinara’s speech signified the end of talkshow.

The international students also experience and feel the fun of Indonesia’s traditional games such as Balap Karung and Bakiak with togetherness brought by Darul Hikam International Boarding School.
