“Developing Global Diversity Character” Training Provides Hands-On Experience

Cirebon, June 8, 2024 – The “Developing Global Diversity Character” training program, held on the second day, provided participants with hands-on experience in executing a global citizenship education project. The training was conducted in a hybrid format, with some participants attending in person at Hotel Santika Cirebon and others joining virtually via Zoom Meeting.

Participants began by receiving materials from speakers on identifying global issues and selecting topics for classroom study. They then proceeded with practical steps to delve into their global citizenship projects. The initial stage involved choosing relevant and significant global issues for their projects, following discussions and collaboration.

The next step was data collection and follow-up. Participants gathered in-depth information on their selected issues through interviews, media sources, and online observations. This activity aimed to lay a strong foundation for developing their global citizenship projects.

After collecting the data, participants were guided in creating class portfolios using Prezi. This session involved compiling research findings and action plans to address the chosen global issues. The Prezi application helped create visually appealing and interactive presentations for implementing their global citizenship projects.

The second day culminated in a project showcase presentation. Participants presented their projects to a panel of judges and fellow trainees. The judges included Prof. Dr. Danny Meirawan, M.Pd., Dr. Ridwan Purnama, M.Si., and Ade Cahyaningsih, M.Pd. This session allowed participants to share their findings and action plans.

The day concluded with a reflection session and discussion on follow-up school projects. Participants reflected on their experiences and learning from the two-day training. They also discussed the next steps for implementing global citizenship projects in their respective schools.

The second day’s training aimed to provide valuable practical experience, preparing participants to apply global citizenship education in their school environments. With a balanced combination of theory and practice, the training is expected to bring positive and significant changes to character education in Indonesia. Appreciation was extended to all contributors, with hopes that this initiative will continue to benefit future educational endeavors.
