The signing of this Cooperation Agreement between the Regional Government and Universities is something very strategic and important. This collaboration involves the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Bandung with the Faculty of Social Science Education (FPIPS) of the Indonesian Education University (UPI) through its Tourism Study Programs, namely Resort & Leisure Management, Tourism Marketing Management and Catering Industry Management.
The statement was delivered by the Dean of FPIPS UPI, Prof. Dr. Agus Mulyana M.Hum., after signing the Cooperation Agreement between the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office with the Indonesian Education University (UPI) and the Indonesian Cultural Arts Institute (ISBI) at the Ballroom of the Amaroossa Hotel, Jalan Aceh No. 71A, Bandung City, Wednesday (20/7/2022).
He emphasized, “Tourism study programs at FPIPS UPI are expected to be able to make a positive contribution to tourism development in the city of Bandung. On the one hand, the tourism development program is part of academic studies on campus, on the other hand, it is a more realistic implementation of tourism development in the city of Bandung.”
This Cooperation Agreement, he continued, is more technical and operational within the Scope of Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy. The results of studies conducted by academics are then implemented in a work program designed by the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office.
Meanwhile, on the same occasion, the Head of Resort & Leisure Management Study Program, FPIPS UPI, Dr. Erry Sukriah, MSE, said the same thing. He said, “The existence of a Cooperation Agreement between the Regional Government and Higher Education shows that there is a demand to collaborate with various parties, for example UPI with the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office as well as with the industrial world. This means that we must open ourselves up to cooperate with various parties.”
In this collaboration, he said, is a continuation of the cooperation that had been made. Students are required to demonstrate their abilities in accordance with industry demands. The forms of cooperation that we have done so far are making a Virtual Tour 360, then conducting On the Job Training (OJT), and the outputs of project-based lectures in collaboration with the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office. This is also part of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program.
