The Graduate School of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), together with Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS), officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in the field of teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) held in Busan, South Korea (17/5/2024). The signing of this MoA plays a crucial role in strengthening international programs, enhancing UPI’s performance indicators (IKU), and serves as an achievement and starting point for both institutions to collaborate in teaching Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA).
The MoA signing was led by the Director of UPI Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Juntika, M.Pd., accompanied by Prof. Dr. Yulianeta, M.Pd, as the representative of the Master’s Program (S2) in BIPA, and Dr. Sun-Hee Kwon, the Dean of BUFS International Affairs Office. On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Yulianeta, M.Pd delivered a public lecture on Indonesian for Foreign Speakers for BIPA classes at BUFS and a lecture on Indonesian Culture for the AIMS program at BUFS, as well as held discussions on the potential cooperation in BIPA research with BIPA lecturers at BUFS.
This initiative not only strengthens collaboration between the two institutions but also opens up new avenues for the development of higher education in the field of Indonesian language and culture. It is hoped that this collaboration will benefit students and academic staff from both universities and elevate the quality of BIPA education at the international level.
Through this collaboration and public lectures, UPI Graduate School and the involved Programs have successfully strengthened internationalization programs and improved the performance indicators (IKU) in field 3, which includes lecturers’ involvement in the Tridharma of higher education elsewhere, working as practitioners in the industry, or guiding students in activities beyond the program, as well as improved the achievement of key performance indicators (IKU) in field 6 regarding program partnerships.
