The M-Passport Application is Ready for Use throughout Indonesia Starting January 27, 2022

The acceleration of the application of digitizing passport services through the Mobile Passport Application (M-Passport) continues to be intensified. The Directorate General of Immigration carried out socialization and trial of M-Passport to 33 Heads of Immigration Divisions, 126 Heads of Immigration Offices, and Immigration Detention Centers throughout Indonesia through virtual meetings on Friday (21/01/2022). This activity was carried out with the aim of preparing for changes to the passport service system with the M-Passport Application and to accommodate officer feedback to expedite the application of the application at immigration offices throughout Indonesia.

Acting Director-General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana said the M-Passport Application is a new form of the Online Passport Queue Registration Application (APAPO) which is implemented to make passport services more transparent, accountable, and fast. He targets this application to be ready to be accessed by people throughout Indonesia at the peak of the 72nd Immigration Service Day (HBI), Thursday (27/01/2022).

“Registration of applications is done online and later factual verification (data and files) will still have to be carried out by immigration officers through interviews,” said Widodo.

On the other hand, the Public Relations Coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration, Arya Pradhana Anggakara said that the M-Passport was initially tested at three immigration offices, namely the South Jakarta Immigration Office, Central Jakarta Immigration Office, and Tangerang Immigration Office. To date, 22 immigration offices have served passport applications through the application.

“Through M-Passport, applicants can apply for a passport by uploading a scanned file to the application. So, when at the immigration office, the applicant only needs to show the original documents during the interview, thereby cutting face-to-face time,” he said.

M-Passport’s excellent features include Payment of PNBP in Advance, Check Status of Passport Application, Validation of Dukcapil NIK, Rescheduling Arrival Schedule, and Integration of Indonesian Travel Documents.
“Payment is made before the interview at the immigration office. This can be done through banks, marketplaces (Tokopedia and Bukalapak), Post Offices, and Indomaret. The payment deadline is two hours after the documents are uploaded,” said Angga.
