Two UPI Journals: IJoST Ranks Q1 and Places No. 1 in Indonesia and IJAL Achieves Q2 Rank in Scopus

Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) again made achievements through its journals, namely the Indonesian Journal of Science and Technology (IJoST) and the Indonesian Journal of Applied Linguistics (IJAL) which is currently registered at scopus got Q1 (SJR 0.71) and Q2 (SJR 0.3) from www.scimagojr.com data, respectively, both journals experienced an increase in SJR ranking in this year’s scopus data update.
The Chancellor of the Indonesian University of Education Prof. Dr. H. M Solehuddin, M.Pd., MA conveyed “a sense of pride in the achievements of IJoST and IJAL, and hopes that the journal will continue to consistently improve its achievements and become a driving force for research culture within UPI and globally.”
IJoST which was formed in 2016 has a focus on themes in science and technology including; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Physics and Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Biology and Biotechnology and Bio Systems Food Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering, Space Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering and other related fields. The IJOST site at https://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/ijost/ has been visited more than 700 thousand times (flag counter) and has been cited more than two thousand times (google scholar). From scimagojr data as of May 11, 2022, IJoST is in first place for the highest SJR in Indonesia.
Dr. eng. Asep Bayu Nandiyanto, ST, M. Eng is the editor-in-chief of IJoST and he is one of the Chemistry lecturers at FPMIPA, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia who has received many awards in the field of research both from within and outside the country, and is included in the top 20 researchers the best in Indonesia version of Sinta. The managing editors of IJoST are students, namely Dwi Fitria Al Husaeni (S1 Computer Science Education, UPI) and Dwi Novia Al Husaeni (S1 Computer Science Education, UPI), and the IJoST editor team consists of several UPI lecturers such as Prof. Dr. Ade Gafar Abdullah, M.Sc. (FPTK UPI), Dr. Lala Septem Riza, S.Si., M.Sc. (FMIPA UPI), Prof. Dr. Hj. Budi Mulyanti, M.Si (FPTK UPI), Prof. Dr. Ida Hamidah, M.Si (FPTK UPI), Prof. Dr. Rizky Rosjanuardi, M.Si (FMIPA UPI), Prof. Topic Hidayat, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D (FMIPA UPI) along with several other lecturers from UPI, Indonesia, and internationally from other countries such as Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Germany, America, Australia, Africa and so on. In addition, IJoST also involved a team of several UPI students, namely Risti Ragadhita, S.Si. (Chemistry), Meli Fiandini (Chemical Education), Rina Maryanti, S.Pd., M.Pd (Special Education) who assisted in the layout team, and Yana R. Sopian, ST, MT as a supporting IT team. IJoST is also supported by Prof. Dr.Advisory Board
IJALDr. Didi Sukyadi, S.Pd., MA and the team from UPI Language Center in 2011. Initially, IJAL accommodated manuscripts presented at the Conference on Applied Linguistics (CONAPLIN), but in the second year IJAL received manuscripts sent through the OJS system . Prof. H. Fuad Abdul Hamied, MA, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of this journal, and Prof. Dr. Didi Sukyadi, S.Pd., MA, as Vice Editor-in-Chief, continues to strive to improve the quality of IJAL by inviting reputable editors and review partners in managing IJAL manuscripts. In the advisory board of the editors and peer reviewers, there are names of UPI lecturers and universities from both within and from abroad. Lukman Hakim, S.Pd., M.Pd. is the managing editor of IJAL. This journal’s page has been viewed more than a million times since it was first published. IJAL publishes research articles documenting the problems of applied linguistics in first, second, and foreign languages. Although the language used in the IJAL articles is English, this journal does not limit articles to only researching English. IJAL also publishes applied linguistic research in other languages ​​such as regional languages, Arabic, English, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and other languages. Entering its tenth year, IJAL currently publishes 25 articles per issue in January, May and September. Due to the high quality of publications at IJAL, IJAL has also led several lecturers in Indonesia and abroad to become professors.
International publications open up great opportunities for researchers to share their knowledge and research through international journals, so that research can be reached by the global community and cited. The existence of IJAL and IJoST which are well known in other countries will increase access to research published through this journal. Articles on IJAL are published three times a year, while IJoST is published twice a year.
Director of the Directorate of International Affairs Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, Ph.D. stated that through the achievements of the two journals, IJoST and IJAL, it is hoped that they will be able to become an impetus for journals to be of higher quality.
