UPI and Life Support Yamano Co., Ltd. Hold Information Session on Remote Work Opportunities

On Friday, May 17, 2024, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) held an information session with Life Support Yamano, Co., Ltd at the PPPG Auditorium 6F. The event was attended by Dr. Nia Nafisah, S.S., M.Pd. as the Head of the International Program Development Division, DIA, Yamano Eiji as the Representative Director of the company, and Muhammad Habib, student from Japanese Language Education, as the MC and interpreter at the event. The company offers opportunities for students to work remotely, intending to create shared value. They want to show students the charm of Japan that can be felt even when working remotely without the need to go to Japan.

Life Support Yamano is located in Ibaraki Prefecture and has had the opportunity to do part-time with one of UPI’s students, Muhammad Habib. This part-time program originated from talks and discussions between Yamano and Habib, which then this information session could be implemented. In addition to companies engaged in caregivers, there is also support for foreign workers in Japan, who come from various countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Nepal, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

Yamano, a speaker at the session, stated that in Japan, this company was established based on the consideration that the elderly population is increasing due to the low birthrate, which has led to a reduction in the number of domestic workers. As a result, the company employs many foreign workers. However, factors such as currency exchange rates and difficulties in obtaining visas make Japan less attractive as a destination for work.

Next, Yamano explained the vision of the remote part-time job Life Support project along with a slide showing the points of the project’s vision. These points include: this company wants to provide insight that people can see Japan not only as a country that makes money, but also has charm and good value for foreign workers considering that Japan is a country that is attractive to many people, especially workers, then; it is hoped that this company can provide more opportunities to build careers, and; play a role in the transformation of foreign workers in Japanese MSME companies, because in Japan foreign workers are still difficult to be accepted by MSMEs because of their small scope.

There are three implementation methods in the remote part-time job Life Support project. First, a recruitment system to match students with companies in Japan. Second, the matching session, this method is more like a perception equation that between students and companies are sure to do a work contract. Third, the implementation program, where students do their remote internship. The company offers several positions relevant to UPI students such as copywriter, marketing team, programming, translator, and interpreter.

The work system in Life Support’s remote part-time job project is teamwork. Things that need to be considered by students to register for this remote part-time job project are students need to have knowledge and skills about computers and Japanese, as well as teamwork skills. This info session welcomed several students who have previously been part of Life Support’s part-time job projects, namely Aryo who engaged in IT, and Ziqo who engaged in design. Then, the info session from Life Support Yamano, Co., Ltd. was closed with a question and answer session or QnA between students and parties from Life Support, Yamano.
