UPI has partnered with LSP DEKOPIN to create lecturers who have been certified by BNSP.

The main task of a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) companion is to help MSMEs to develop themselves, identify their own problems, and solve them according to the established standards. This statement was made by Ujang Gunawan, S.E., M.M., the Director of the Indonesian Cooperative Council Professional Certification Institute (LSP DEKOPIN), during his opening remarks at the Technical Guidance and Certification of the Indonesian National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) MSME Companion Scheme for lecturers at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI). The event was held in person at the 6th floor auditorium of the FPEB Building on UPI Campus, Jalan Dr. Setiabudhi No. 229, Bandung on Wednesday and Thursday, April 5-6, 2023.

Ujang emphasized that the companions are expected to guide MSMEs to become self-developing, identify their own problems, and solve them independently. Ultimately, those who are skilled and knowledgeable will have a positive attitude. He hopes that they will be accustomed to standardized work, as they will be trained according to the National Indonesian Competency Standards (SKKNI).

Ujang believes in the abilities of the participants in the Technical Guidance and Certification (Bimtek) because they are in a friendly and supportive environment. Therefore, the assessors will find it easy to recommend the competencies of the participants in becoming competent MSME companions. This Bimtek teaches the National Indonesian Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the field of companioning, which will be applied in the field. Thus, MSMEs will receive competent companions who know their competency standards so that they can develop themselves according to those standards.

Through this Technical Guidance and Certification event, it is hoped that all participants will graduate as motivators and drivers for MSMEs, because that is what being a companion entails. Ujang further stated that as proof of their competency, they will be issued a certificate of recognition, and it is hoped that this certificate will increase their confidence and have a positive impact on both the companions and the MSMEs they serve.

This Technical Guidance and Certification of the BNSP MSME Companion Scheme for lecturers at the Indonesia University of Education supports the BNSP’s program because it has the obligation to certify all workers and professions in Indonesia. The event will end with a competency test, and LSP has prepared 11 to 13 assessors to guide the participants in the assessment.

According to BNSP data, only 5 million workers are competent in various professions. BNSP continues to optimize the potential of professional workers by licensing LSPs in their respective fields or sectors. The government hopes that all workers and individuals will be competent. LSP DEKOPIN has been recognized by the BNSP since 2017 and has certified many professions. It is an extension of BNSP and is certified and monitored every three years by BNSP.
