Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Perisai Diri from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia achieved overall champion in the Open Tournament Banten Cup 4 2023 held at the Hall Student Center of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta from 2-5 March 2023. In this championship, UKM Perisai Diri managed to secure 13 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze medal.

The Open Tournament Banten Cup 4 2023 was organized by Keluarga Silat Nasional Indonesia Perisai Diri Province of Banten, supported by Ikatan Pencak Silat Indonesia Province of Banten, and collaborated with Keluarga Silat Nasional Indonesia Perisai Diri Unit of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa Federasi Olahraga Mahasiswa UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, with the theme of “1000 Athletes of Pesilat Achieve DBON.” Participants who took part in the Open Tournament Banten Cup 4 2023 involved all participants in age categories ranging from early childhood to adulthood from all provinces in Indonesia, with predetermined quotas and estimated total number of 1000 athletes. The athletes competed in the categories of sparring and single basic movements, as well as the Perisai Diri version of sparring which consisted of left-hand attacks, solo performances, and technical neatness.

According to the Head of UKM Perisai Diri, Paratami Nuramdiani, the participation of UKM Perisai Diri from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in the Open Tournament Banten Cup 4 2023 was aimed at finding talented athletes to be developed into high-achieving athletes at the provincial, national, and international levels. It also aimed to train mental and self-confidence, spirit, and foster a sense of family and solidarity among the members of KELATNAS Indonesia.

Furthermore, it was explained that the participation of UKM Perisai Diri in the Open Tournament Banten Cup 4 2023 was in order to develop and nurture the members to become resilient individuals with chivalrous spirits and noble character, and to cultivate the mental attitude and sportsmanship of young generations who can instill a sense of love for others and pride in their cultural heritage. In the future, it is hoped that UKM Perisai Diri can produce a high-achieving, resilient, and noble generation.
