Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has become the only Indonesian higher education institution which consistently focuses its core mission on education. UPI has already set up its vision as a leading and outstanding university in the fields of educational sciences and subject matter education in Indonesia in 2010 and in Asia in 2025. In order to involve itself in a very competitive world, UPI gives some priorities in some of the internationalization programs as key strategies to broaden its academic collaboration with partner universities overseas.
Office of International Education and Relations (OIER) plays a pivotal role in UPI’s internationalization programs. It focuses on international programs and providing assistance to the faculty members, staffs, and students in handling their academic-related matters, including immigration procedures. By doing these services, it has become a main gate in establishing a relationship between UPI and overseas universities.
It is OIER’s aim to establish active partnerships with 75 universities in 18 countries from around the world. We actively participate in some academic activities, e.g. joint research, student and faculty member exchange programs, joint conferences, and most importantly, cultural exchanges between the countries. We also participate in some international organizations, e.g. ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS), ASEAN Teacher Education Networks (AsTEN), and Consortium of Asia Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU), in facilitating students to study in ASEAN universities and in Asia and Pacific regions.
We believe that this mutual trust between UPI and its partner universities will help students to become future leaders by providing them with some of the international education networks around the world which expose them to global opportunities in different countries.
We also invite international students from all countries to join us in student exchange programs. Besides taking courses from UPI’s study programs, we also provide a non-degree student exchange program for international students to learn more about Indonesia and experience the richness of Indonesian’s culture.
