Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in Johor Bahru: International Program Boosts Digital and Financial Literacy

Johor Bahru, June 18, 2023 – On June 18, 2023, the Ahmad Dahlan Hall of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Johor Bahru bore witness to the success of the International Community Service Program (PKM) with the theme “Empowering Young Entrepreneurs through Digital Literacy and Financial Literacy.” This event was attended by 61 participants, including teachers from the Indonesian School in Johor Bahru and students from the Open University (Universitas Terbuka – UT) Pokjar Johor. It featured competent speakers, Dr. Heny Hendrayati, S.IP., M.M., and Tia Yuliawati, S.Pd., M.M., from the Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
The International PKM event aimed to provide guidance and empowerment to young entrepreneurs in harnessing digital literacy and financial literacy. By bringing in experts in their fields, participants were expected to gain a better understanding of the importance of these aspects in the entrepreneurial world.

During the speaker sessions, Dr. Heny Hendrayati, S.IP., M.M., discussed the importance of strengthening digital literacy in developing and marketing products or services. She taught participants about the latest digital technologies that can be used to enhance visibility and business success. Meanwhile, Tia Yuliawati, S.Pd., M.M., shared knowledge and strategies for managing finances for young entrepreneurs. She provided tips and tricks for optimizing financial management effectively and efficiently.
This International PKM event was interactive and filled with enthusiasm. It concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation of Agreement (IA) between the Faculty of Economics and Business (FPEB) at UPI and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Johor Bahru.

Mohamad Rizali Noor, the Social and Cultural Information Officer (Pensosbud) of KJRI Johor Bahru, and Prof. Dr. H. Eeng Ahman, M.S., the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UPI, appreciated this event as a collaborative effort to provide guidance to young entrepreneurs in Johor Bahru. They both hoped that participants could apply the knowledge gained in their efforts to achieve success and prosperity in the entrepreneurial world.
This International PKM event represents a tangible step in encouraging the younger generation to become successful and competitive entrepreneurs in the digital era. Through the integration of digital literacy and financial literacy, participants are expected to develop their abilities in using digital technology wisely and managing finances effectively.
