Vice Chancellor of Academic and Students Affairs of UPI, Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si has delegated 12 students as the participants of SEA-Teacher Project Batch 3 in the Philippine and Thailand, Wednesday (11/1), at meeting room on third floor of UPI’s University Center building.

The students participating in this program consist of Dea Rizki Ananda (Chiang Mai University, Thailand), Ghea Flasentika (Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Thailand), Irfan Taofik (Far Eastern University, Filipina), Maidiati (Khon Kaen University, Thailand), Ilham Zaini Rahman (Songkhla Rajabhat University, Thailand), Nadya Nikki Gadizoraya (Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Thailand), Trias Teguh Rahayu (Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thailand), Larasati Maulida (Songkhla Rajabhat University, Thailand), Sofia Galuh Mutiara (Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Thailand), Lestari Yuni Aningsi Kudadiri (Phranakhon Rajabhat University, Thailand), Mutiara Syifa (Suratthani Rajabhat University, Thailand), and Hanifah Putri Darmawanti (Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thailand).

Prof. Dr. Didi Suherdi, M.Ed., as the PIC of SEA-Teacher Project said, “We are actually thankful to SEAMEO (South-East Asian Ministers of Education Organization) which had given us the chance to join this program. If we planned to send 12, we had to accept 12, too. We are supposed to send 23 students, but Thailand and the Philippines have not been prepared to accept as many as we prepared and only able to send their 12 students.”

In this session, 9 alumni of UPI are also sent-off to attend a different program which is Language Assistant 2017 in Australia. The involved participants are Putri Maulida Saktiwi (Castlemaine North Primary School), Rika Karlina Permatasari (Bellarine Secondary College), Siti Sopiah (Kyneton Secondary College), Alifa Mariani Soerianingrat (Belmont High School), Fadhil Mochsin Faisal Alhadi (Wodonga Senior Secondary College), Imelda Wahyuni Husein (Brunswick North West Primary School), Iva Laela Syifa (Lilydale West Primary School), Muhammad Iqbal Nurfikri (Warrnabool College), and Suci Maharani (Camperdown College Senior Campus).

In that occasion, the dean of FPBS, Prof. Dr. H. Syihabuddin, M.Pd., said, “There is one thing which made me proud, that you will have chances to achieve as much experience as possible there. Since the program is Language Assistants, or we can say the program of ‘auxiliary teachers’, we have to put ourselves with our knowledge as their helper. However, it is not just helping. The important thing is to train the participants in arranging the teaching plans. We also have to draw our strategies in order to improve our teaching experience, certainly.

“You may ask questions to the experts there and perhaps by that chance we can have discussion with them. When you have a hardship and cannot handle it, you may tell it to them. Furthermore, you may seek special experiences as many as you can since it can be very useful for yourselves, especially for your next generation’s lesson to have real impression and global knowledge.” Prof. Syihabuddin added.

This program is initiated by SEAMEO, which aspired to be a facilitator for ASEAN college students experiencing abroad teachings, in other ASEAN countries. Therefore, when MEA program has been successfully implemented, to take teaching offers will be not so hard. As a matter of fact, UPI intends to improve their students’ international mobility since in today global wisdom people are demanded to have much abroad experiences.
