UPI Students Join the First Online Teaching Practicum Program at School of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur

Bandung, UPI – An opening ceremony of online teaching practicum program at School of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) was jointly held by Directorate of International Affairs UPI. This event was held through online video conference, Zoom Meeting, on Monday, February 8th 2021 at 14:00 WIB / 15:00 MYT. This is the first online teaching practicum program at School of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, even though before the pandemic, some students have joined the program on site at SIKL. Although the pandemic poses a challenge, it does not stop, even motivates UPI and SIKL to carry on with this program. UPI highly appreciated SIKL for receiving eighteen student teachers: two students from Primary School Teacher Education (Cibiru), four students from Mathematics Education, four students from Indonesia Language Education, four students from English Language Education, two students from Science Education, one student from Physics Education, and one student from Chemistry Education.

This event was attended by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Didi Sukyadi, M. A. He stated in his welcoming remarks “This online teaching practice program is important. The program gives the students professional experience and also 

international experience of online learning and teaching. The student also will be able to learn from the teachers who work overseas, although the program runs through online media.” The headmaster of SIKL, Dr. Encik Abdul Hajar, M. M., left a massage that he hoped the students are able to learn the online teaching-learning process because SIKL has been applying the online program, developed with teachers’ high creativity, since last year. Besides the teachers of SIKL, supervisors, and teaching practicum students, also Mr. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, the Director of Directorate of International Affairs, and the Head Division of Teacher Professionalism Training and Education Services, Dr. Asep Suryana, M. Pd. were also present at the event.

This online teaching practicum program at SIKL is managed by Directorate of International Affairs and Teacher Professionalism Training and Education Services (P2GJK). This program is also a part of online overseas teaching practicum program which has been initiated by DIA since the first half semester of 2020/2021 at School of Indonesia in Jeddah (SIJ) and School of Indonesia in Tokyo (SIT). It is expected that similar programs can be carried out in more School of Indonesia overseas. Arivia Ahmadah
