FPBS UPI Successfully Holds The Sixth International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture, and Education

Faculty of Language and Literature Education, FPBS, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung held another international conference called the International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture, and Education ( The sixth ICOLLITE) with the theme “Revitalization of Language, Literature, Culture, an Education in The Digital Era”.

This conference was filled by several speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Yayat Sudaryat, M. Hum (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) and Prof. Kimura Toshiaki (Tohoku University, Japan) as keynote speaker. Prof. Julian Millie (Monash University, Australia) and Dr. Luh Ade Mayani, SS, M. Hum. (Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Language/Language Development and Fostering Agency, Indonesia) as Plenary Speaker. Dr. Ida Widia. M.Pd and Dr. Asep Sopian, S.Pd., M.Ag (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) as Featured Speaker on Wednesday 03 August 2022 via online.

This seminar was opened by the Vice Chancellor for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Didi Sukyadi, MA In his speech, he expressed his congratulations and appreciation to the entire committee of The 6thICOLLITE seminar for having successfully carried out this seminar. “This seminar is very important for the linguistic aspect in today’s digital era,” he added.

This seminar is the sixth international seminar held by the Faculty of Language and Literature Education which was attended by professors, scholars, researchers, language activists in Indonesia, students, and other participants and speakers from other countries such as Algeria, Andora, Australia, India, Japan. , Malaysia and others as many as 233 participants. In its implementation, this event was enlivened by the performance of Katumbiri, one of the Student Activity Units of the UPI Language and Literature Education Faculty.

This seminar aims to revitalize language, literature, culture, and education in facing the dynamics of change in the digital era. The Dean of FPBS, UPI, Prof. Dr. Tri Indri Hardini, M.Pd. hopes to produce extraordinary insights related to language and encourage each other and work together regarding language so that they can carry out the Independent Learning Curriculum launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

The scope of study in this seminar relates to various aspects of language, literature, culture and education as a forum for experts and professionals to share their research and experiences on this issue. Also in this seminar, presenters and participants are welcome to discuss and disseminate current issues and offer solutions to the challenges of our time. The discussion about the current digital literacy trend is expected to pave the way for mutual learning for progress as a large human society, regardless of their social, economic, and cultural background.

In this ICOLLITE 6 activity, the presenters and participants were not only treated to material from the main speakers, but also treated to various traditional Sundanese arts presented by UKM Katumbiri, FPBS. This is not only an effort to provide entertainment, but also an effort to promote Sundanese traditional arts internationally.

At the close of this activity, Dr. Rudi Adi Nugroho, M.Pd., Chairman of the Committee for Icollite 6 said that this event was lively, apart from being attended by domestic speakers, it turned out that this event was in demand and attended by speakers from various countries. He also said that this activity did not escape the cooperation and assistance of various parties, both lecturers, staff, and students at FPBS, who worked hand in hand to make this activity a success. He hopes that from this activity various ideas and solutions will be generated so that language, literature, culture and education can face global challenges and challenges in the digital era.
